Lensyl Products Limited was founded in 1962 by a young Trinidadian entrepreneur named Joseph Chandersane ‘Lenny’ Lall, the same year of Trinidad & Tobago’s Independence from Great Britain.   After visiting the UK the previous year and exploring a number of business opportunities, he seized on one to set-up a spring-filled mattress manufacturing operation back home, which would become the 1st of its kind in the country.  Mr. Lall’s decision to start his new business by purchasing the factory components in London and shipping these back to Trinidad was made after consulting with the Managing Director and Principal of  the largest retailer of furniture and appliances in Trinidad & Tobago at that time, Mr. Ram Kirpalani.   In detailed discussions with Mr. Kirpalani concerning his exciting new venture, Mr. Lall found an enthusiastic supporter and investor in his new business.  Soon after the new Company was Christened with the name, Lensyl, a combination of Mr. Lall’s 1st name,  and that of his beloved wife, Sylvia.

The company’s start-up operations in Curepe – on the corner of Belle  Smythe & Agostini Streets – began with a production of approximately 30 mattresses a month, accerlerating quickly through successful Sales & Distribution through the Kirplani Stores network of shops.  Within the 1st twelve months of operation Lensyl was able to generate over $500,000 in Sales was soon recognized as the Leader and Innovator in high quality bedding products and remained in this position for over 20 + years.  During this era, Mr Lall was hailed out everywhere he went in Trinidad as “The Mattress Man,” and his hard earned celebrity grew over the years as Lensyl became a household name in Trinidad and synomous with mattresses.   Mr. Lall was principally involved in supervising the manufacturing operations as well as building relationships with the Trade through his naturally gifted ability to sell, persuade and influence others, while Mrs. Lall was involved in managing and performing a variety of office functions, e.g., invoicing and customer service.

As Lensyl increased its sales and its dominant position in the mattress making industry it became necessary to expand its operations by creating a much larger manufacturing space.   So in 1985 the Company’s operations were re-located to Macoya, inside The Western Industrial Estate, facing the Churchill-Roosevelt Highway.  In addition to expanding its manufacturing and warehouse space to over 75,000- sq ft.????   Lensyl also made the pivotal decision to invest in machinery to start manufacturing is own foam,  a key component in mattress construction as well as all types of upholstered furniture.   This immediately led to the creation of its own indigenous polyurethane foam brand, Durofoam, in a wide variety of densities with a focus on the demands of each market segment.  The Company quickly capitalized on the market acceptance of its new durable, high-quality foam by launching its high-density line of foam mattresses, allnite, to compliment its Lensyl brand of spring-filled products.

Lensyl’s single point of distinction from our inception has been our commitment to quality manufacturing in all of our products. As manufacturers of all of our own mattresses and foam, we can ensure stringent standards are maintained throughout the manufacturing process, enabling us to satisfy and exceed our customers expectations and demands both locally and abroad.

This flexibility and desire to satisfy our highly discerning customers – both wholesale and retail – can explain our longstanding success and why our Lensyl and allnite brands of mattresses are the only enduring brands of their kind in Trinidad & Tobago.  No other local manufacturer can boast of this achievement.  Our company’s prominence and focus on quality in the design and manufacturing of our products has been further validated by a number of National awards such as  The Prime Minister’s Exporter of the Year Award for Competitiveness, the Business Development Company’s ( BDC) Environmental Award, as well as well as BDC’s Overall Business Award.

Lensyl currently supplies all of the major retailers in Trinidad & Tobago as well as many leading retailers in the English speaking & Dutch speaking Caribbean markets with our products.   We are also a key supplier of mattresses and pillows to the Hospitality industry, as well to other large institutional buyers, e.g., TT Defense Force, government and private hospitals, and university dorm rooms.

As a result of Lensyl’s commitment to upholding quality standards in the manufacturing of its bedding products (exemplified by our Five Year Limited Warranties) and its long-standing relationships throughout the region with key retailers and distributors the Company was designated in 2012 as the official Caribbean partner of Tempur, the World’s #1 brand of bedding products.  Tempur has been recognized for many years as the innovator and technology leader in the memory foam market and the brand is now available at leading retailers in Trinidad & Tobago and other regional markets exclusively through Lensyl.
